sweet and salty granola

Granola is one of those tricky foods that everyone thinks is healthy but can actually be loaded with sugar and additives which make it, well, unhealthy. That is why making your own homemade granola trumps prepackaged-cereal-aisle-granola every time. And, this granola is super delicious and only made from the cleanest ingredients. It is also such a quick and easy recipe, you've got to give it a shot. Instead of sugar, we use maple syrup which is an excellent natural sweetener and is packed full of antioxidants which destroy free radicals that wreak havoc on our bodies. So, not only is it so delicious you want to drink it from the bottle but it's actually good for you too! Combined with the cinnamon, coconut flakes and vanilla, the granola has just the perfect amount of sweetness...but with a twist. This recipe includes sunflower seeds, almonds and pink Egyptian sea salt which gives it just the right amount of saltiness, making your breakfast the beautiful sweet and salty combination that our taste buds adore. Add in some almond or coconut milk and thoughtfully arranged berries and you are set for a satisfying and delicious "most important meal of the day".


3 cups of old fashioned rolled oats
1 cup of chopped almonds
1 cup of raw pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup of unsweetened coconut flakes
3 tbs of chia seeds
1/2 cup of maple syrup
1/2 cup of coconut oil
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1/2 tsp of pink Himalyan sea salt


-Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit
-Mix the oats, chopped almonds, pumpkin seeds, coconut flakes, chia seeds and cinnamon together in a bowl.
-In a separate bowl, melt the coconut oil and then stir in the maple syrup and vanilla
-Pour the wet ingredients into the granola mixture and stir until all pieces are coated
-Place the granola on a baking sheet and lay
-Bake the granola for 20 minutes, stir, and then put it back in the oven for another 20 minutes
-After baking for a total of 40 minutes, let cool on the baking sheet without stirring so that chunks can form
-Sprinkle another handful of coconut flakes on top and mix
-Store in an air tight container
